You just need to be aware that they actually do put your link on their site. If you do not see it within a reasonable amount of time then you can remove their link from your site.
On the internet there are forums or websites which help one in creating links and will match people up. Do a search on Google to see what you can find. There are also professionals who can help you with this at a price. This depends on your budget and how much you want to be involved and how much you want to learn. As with anything new there is a learning curve to this and if you want more guaranteed results you may want to use a professional. Try to get someone you can trust. Perhaps you have a friend who has been doing internet marketing for awhile and who can direct you to someone you can trust.
