Using Twitter as part of your online marketing plan makes a lot of sense. If done correctly, Twitter can help you to increase your visibility, credibility, and your bottom line. In just a short period of time, sometimes in just two to three months, you can become well known in your niche and open up new opportunities in your business.

First, you will want to get signed up, upload a picture of yourself, and write a short profile that describes what you do. Include a link to your blog or to a site where people can get an even better feel for what you are doing on the internet and off.

Make sure to use a picture that looks like you. The internet is all about transparency, so use a recent picture that shows your features. This is the very first impression people will have of you, so make it a positive one.

Include a link to your blog or website, instead of a link to your page on Facebook, an opt in page, or another site. If someone is interested enough to find out more about you, make sure you are leading them to a site where they can easily do this.

Now you will want to tweet a few times to tell people why you have joined Twitter, what you do, and how you intend to help them. These initial tweets will serve you well during your first week or so on the site.

Then you will want to find some people to follow. There are several ways to go about this. You may already know the Twitter names of some people you wish to follow. You can also scroll to the bottom of the page and search for people by typing in their name or using keywords to find people from your city or in your niche.

Begin to interact with these people and you will soon be a part of the conversation. Answer questions from others and ask questions about what you will need help with. You will find that this is a caring community of people who truly want to see others succeed.

After two or three months you will see that more opportunities have opened up for you, your list will have grown, and many people who had previously not been aware of you will now know you and recognize your name.

Decide now what results and outcomes you are looking for, and write them down. Two months from now take a look at what you wrote down and you will be amazed at the results you will have achieved. You can become known as an expert in your niche very quickly, simply by becoming active while using Twitter.
