Over the past eighteen months, in addition to watch other people have been extremely busy at the Institut Minerva de Recherche en Haute Horlogerie in Villeret Main Street. The place was overrun by construction workers, craftsmen and installers, who carried out the conversion, renewal of the facades and giving a fresh coat of paint. The underlying principle of the renovation was , to the extent possible, to retain something of value maintenance and to ensure that the historical foundations of the society of traditional watchmaking were also well equipped to handle the next 150 years as they have been in the past 150. Accordingly, the renovated building contains planks and oak herringbone parquet, which is well over a century. The windows on the other hand, have been replaced by modern double-glazed versions, although again, the frames and mullions are exact replicas of the history of their ancestors. The inside of the windows have been preserved and placed in their original position after the painting. Electrical and IT systems were completely replaced.
The machine, of course, remained intact outside the state of the art CNC and wire erosion ¬ systems, there are a variety of machines for many years, which would normally be found in a museum. The reason it is not simply to preserve maximum authenticity, but also the examination of the reasons why the company should launch a CNC punch if a system is unable to perform its work more quickly or more accurately . The watchmaking workshops, too, that for years, were both controlled by computer, and systems obsolete-looking tools, machines and measuring instruments, has remained virtually intact. Watchmakers tend to become accustomed to their laboratories - known in the trade, prepared - and are willing to abandon things that are so familiar that it is absolutely impossible to keep.
The most remarkable in the whole renovation took place on the floor, where the entire middle of the facade of the roof has been replaced by a glazed atrium, which blended perfectly with the existing structure, it seems to have always been there. It is a kind of attic, with a small balcony overlooking the street, where the future journalists, visitors and, most importantly, customers can be received, who came to pick up their watch in the Montblanc Collection Villeret 1858 personally.
