Uniforms are an important part of our working lives. Depending on the profession that we work in we could be expected to wear anything from boiler suits, to jeans and t-shirts or in some cases there may be extremely strict guidelines placed on what you can and can't wear in the work place, for instance if you work in a hospital you could be expected to wear either a doctors coat or nurses tunic.
There is however a good reason behind having to wear these uniforms in hospitals. Obviously doctor's coats and nurses tunics have been specifically designed to provide the wearer with protection from the vast array of fluids and liquids that may be lurking around in the confines of the hospital.
Another benefit behind the design of doctor's coats and nurses tunics is that they have been designed in such a way to maximise the appearance of dirt, grime and blood. It is obviously vital that doctors and nurses maintain the optimum levels of cleanliness at all times. If they are carrying around dirt, grime and blood on their uniforms then they could potentially be spreading disease around the hospital facilities.
Nurses tunics have been designed in a colour that will allow anyone to quickly spot any dirt, grime or other fluids at a quick glance, they are also made from a fabric that is incredible tough wearing but incredibly quick to dry. So when it comes to keeping clean in and around the hospital, the use of nurses tunics actually helps the staff to stay ahead of the game.
I'm sure most of us have had to wear a uniform at some stage in our lives, whether it was a school uniform, work uniform or even a uniform for a sporting occasion. I'm sure there has also been times when we were not particularly thrilled that we had to wear this uniform. But if we look at things logically, uniforms are there to assist us. They are there to help us perform the task at hand and make things simple.
So next time before we have a go at the uniforms we are expected to wear, it would be worthwhile thinking about what the purpose behind the uniform is. Maybe it is there to protect us from a danger in the workplace, maybe it is there to help identify us to members of the public.
